MISSINAIBI SUNSET



Imagine, sitting with me at the end of a dock, far north of urban centres, just a few hundred kilometres south of James Bay. We are gazing at the sunset over Lake Missinaibi, our feet dangling in the calm fresh waters, wishing that this moment would never end.

This is how, in my studio, Missinaibi Sunset came to be. I closed my eyes remembering the tranquility of that last sunset after a week of gruelling canoeing. I searched the studio for just the right glass. An antique window frame caught my eye and I remembered how my companions and I wished for a cabin with a window of just that view. Second best to being there: creating an art work that evokes that wondrous wilderness site.
