LADY MOON
- Fused and painted kiln-fired and leaded glass in wood frame
- 20” X 10”
Imagine clear nights when you can watch and praise the serene passage of the moon. Count your days by its waxing and waning as did our ancestors of old. Experience the magic of the calm, dark, night as the moon glows in the heavens above and casts its iridescent glimmer on the earth and water below.
O Lady Moon
O Lady Moon, your horns point toward the east:
Shine, be increased;
O Lady Moon, your horns point toward the west:
Wane, be at rest.
Christina Rossetti
Living in the country means that I enjoy the night sky with less interference from our modern technology. I have a large picture window that is situated so that it faces the rising moon and on clear nights with a full moon my dining room is bathed in the ethereal light of this celestial orb. I am fascinated by the moon and it appears in many incarnations in my work. This art piece is dedicated to my little niece whose night time ritual, since infancy, has been to go outside and look for the moon, no matter what the weather. She rejoices in its presence or bemoans its absence when hidden from her sight.
