AUGUST AT LAKE SIMCOE detail

Come with me on a perfect August day let’s and travel the shores of Lake Simcoe. Let’s stop at Saint George’s and sit on the curved bench in the church yard to watch the sun shining on the water and the sails show a dazzling white against the Prussian blue lake. We can drive to the swampy bits where cattails blow in the wind and the red winged blackbirds perch to sing their songs. The day is clear and we can see across to the distant shore on the north side. These August days have a feel of eternal peace and serenity.

Living so close to Lake Simcoe is wonderful. I am continually inspired to create exquisite vignettes from the lovely views I see on such prosaic trips as a drive to the grocery store. I am fully aware of the blessings of my life. These little fused gems are best suited to a simple setting. I designed a pattern for the entire piece reminiscent of the American Arts and Crafts movement; especially in my mind were the prairie designs of Frank Lloyd Wright.
